SYNETIC FAMILY PROGRAM GETS A NEW HOME IN CRYSTAL CITY

Crystal City will become even more family-friendly come February as Synetic Theater completes a relocation of its Family Theater performance offerings to the area. In partnership with the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) and Vornado/Charles E. Smith, the move takes advantage of the Crystal City Theater’s larger capacity, stage, lobby, and backstage as well as the access to the Metro and to neighborhood amenities including shopping and dining.

“We’re excited to be augmenting our Crystal City presence with shows for the whole family and creating one multi-use venue for all our performances,” says Synetic Theater’s Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili. “We also hope to bring school groups to the Crystal City venue, now that we have almost 400 seats.”

Though the move will close the 80-seat Family Theater venue in the Village of Shirlington, all Synetic Studio drama, art classes, and camps will remain.

“Synetic Theater has been a tremendous value-add to the Crystal City community,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “Bringing the Synetic Family Theater productions to Crystal City enhances Synetic’s capacity to provide a quality theater experience to families while adding to Crystal City’s growing cultural offerings.”

Synetic Family Theater first performance after the relocation will be a teen production of Romeo and Juliet scheduled for Friday, February 3 at 8:00pm, Saturday, February 4 at 2:00pm, and Saturday, February 4 at 8:00pm. Ticket are priced affordably at $15 and are currently available at www.synetictheater.org.

The relocation of Synetic Family Theater follows the recent move of Synetic Theater’s administrative functions to a Crystal City office building owned by Gould Property Company. Other back-of-house functions including storage and set construction are also coming to Crystal City space owned by Lowe Enterprises Real Estate group.
