Kid-Tastic Celebration Set for the Marine Corps Marathon in Crystal City

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) will be hosting a kid-tastic celebration at the 35th Annual Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 31, 2010. The festival will be held from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM at 18th and Crystal Drive.

“Crystal City is a great place to watch the Marine Corps Marathon,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “Hundreds of colorful flags line the street, and great music fills the air. This year brings even more activities for kids and families, guaranteeing that they can have a great time while waiting for the runners.”

Home to miles 22 and 23, and conveniently located near the Crystal City metro station on the blue and yellow lines, Crystal City is an ideal place to watch the Marine Corps Marathon. Spectators get two opportunities to cheer their runners and give them a needed energy boost at the end of the race. In addition to easy Metro access, there is plenty of free parking available for those who choose to drive.

The kid-tacular celebration will have fun for the whole family. The festival will have moon bounces, face painting, henna, balloon animals, and more. The National Children’s Museum will lead in some great activities and crafts, and kids will unleash their inner artist with ArtJamz. Thanks to Sesame Workshop, special guests Cookie Monster and Elmo will delight and entertain children of all ages. Spectators can enjoy free cotton candy and popcorn, and the Crystal City BID will be giving away cowbells. It promises to be a great day for the runners and spectators alike.
