Crystal Screen: By The Numbers
Be Counted by Voting for Your Favorite Numbered Movies

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) announced the theme for their 2011 outdoor movie series in front of a packed lawn of over 800 people at last night’s opening of Crystal Screen: Star Trek. The 5th annual summer movie festival, Crystal Screen: By The Numbers, will feature 12 viewer-selected movies that contain numerical variations in their titles. Qualifying movies that could make next year’s schedule include such hits as Air Force One, Million Dollar Baby, Sixth Sense, and 1984.

“Each year our film festival gets bigger and better,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “We just had our largest opening night yet and look forward to very enthusiastic crowds for the rest of the summer. Crystal Screen: By The Numbers adds personal ownership to the festival as viewers choose their favorites to see next year.”

Viewers will set next year’s schedule by voting in person at Crystal Screen: Star Trek or online at www.crystalcity.org. The 12 winning movies will be unveiled on August 16th at the last movie of this year’s festival, the 2009 hit movie Star Trek.

Crystal Screen annually attracts thousands of visitors throughout the metropolitan area. The festival is shown in one of Crystal City’s welcoming green spaces, owned, managed, and donated for the festival by Vornado/Charles E. Smith. Convenient to Metro and Crystal City’s many restaurants, Crystal Screen offers the perfect opportunity for a leisurely and affordable night out for dinner and a movie – whether a take-out picnic on the grass or a traditional sit-down dinner.
