Crystal City BID Promotes Area’s Active Lifestyle through
Crystal FIT Campaign

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – As part of their Crystal FIT campaign, the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) continues to showcase the area’s active assets. Crystal FIT, a FitArlington partner program, creates and highlights healthy events and programs that inherently work well within the Crystal City footprint.

“We have many fitness-oriented assets in Crystal City, including long stretches of road for running, cycling, rollerblading, direct access to pedestrian trails, dedicated bike lanes, low weekend traffic, and free parking,” said Angela Fox, the BID President and CEO. “We also just launched Crystal Flight, which includes a 4.5mi loop that you can walk or run while viewing the 50 fun and artful planes. Being active is essential to our physical health, and Crystal City is in motion.”

"Fitness is a critical aspect of our vibrant community,” said Arlington County Board Chairman J. Walter Tejada. “I created the FitArlington initiative with the expectations that our many community partners would carry that forward in active and fun ways. The Crystal City BID has done just that. Personally, I’m excited about the 2nd Annual Crystal Ride/U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic. After winning last year’s Celebrity Tricycle Race during this event, I’m glad to have a year off to recover. But, I know there will be lots of fun community happenings all day long.”

Though Crystal City is a perfect place for visitors to jump onto the Mount Vernon and Four Mile Run trails or personalize their own fitness regimen, upcoming organized Crystal FIT happenings include the 2nd Annual Crystal Rides/U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic on May 4, Washington Area Bicyclist Association’s Bike to Work Day on May 16, and the Arlington/Alexandria Community Bike Ride on June 7. The Crystal City BID is also partnering with Clarendon-based Pacers to host some road races.  Visit www.crystalcity.org for details.

Crystal FIT partners include FitArlington, Arlington Sports, Inc., Washington Area Bicyclist Association, and the Marine Corps Marathon.
