Blockbusters in Crystal City
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – Whether it’s bringing out the record-breaking box office hits or busting up street “mega blocks,” Crystal City’s transformation on a grand scale continues. With new buildings rising, new art popping up, fun daily events and activities going on, and the next evolution of an even more pedestrian-friendly street grid underway, the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) has selected a commensurate theme for it’s 2013 outdoor movie series that reflects these exciting changes - Crystal Screen: Blockbusters.
“Crystal City is literally busting out all over,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “The best way to honor such a sweeping transformation is with grand, award winning, hit movies.”
Upholding their tradition of audience engagement, the Crystal City BID is issuing a call for help to construct next year’s lineup. Beginning today people can vote for the top thirteen blockbusters they would like to see at the 2013 outdoor film festival. The winning movies will be announced at the final Crystal Screen: Rom Com on Monday, August 27.
Crystal Screen annually attracts thousands of visitors throughout the metropolitan area. The festival is shown in one of Crystal City’s many welcoming green spaces, owned, managed, and donated for the festival by Vornado/Charles E. Smith. Convenient to Metro and Crystal City’s many restaurants, Crystal Screen offers the perfect opportunity for a leisurely and affordable romantic night out with dinner and a movie – whether a take-out picnic on the grass or a traditional sit-down dinner.
