Spring is now here, that means that time is running out to register for the DC regions premier cycling event, the 2009 edition of the Air Force Cycling Classic, Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st. With two days of riding and racing, we are offering more opportunities for cycling enthusiasts of all abilities to participate.
The weekend's cycling will begin in Arlington on Saturday, May 30th with amateur and professional criterium races in Clarendon. Then on Sunday, May 31st, cycling enthusiasts of all abilities can challenge themselves on the U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic's 12 1/2 kilometer circuit in Crystal City during the Crystal Ride. Following this amateur, non-competitive ride, Pros will again take to the streets.
Crystal Ride
The Air Force Cycling Classic's Crystal Ride will offer two ways to participate. There will be a standard $35 entry fee ($10 discount for active duty, guard and reserve military personnel), where riders will receive an event T-shirt, timing chip, and participation award medals.
With a minimum pledge of $150, riders can participate as part of Team Intrepid Heroes, with the 100% of the proceeds from rider fundraising to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The first 100 to sign up as part of Team Intrepid Heroes will receive a commemorative, limited edition U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic jersey and access into the Team Intrepid Heroes Rider Recovery Pavilion.
Rider registration for the Air Force Cycling Classic's Crystal Ride will be capped at 2,500 this year. Registration is well ahead of last year; so don't wait until the last minute to sign-up.
