Robert Mandle

A former Arlingtonian, Robert Mandle brings professional consulting experience with zoning and land use analysis, fiscal impact analysis, and regulatory policy analysis. Most recently in Norfolk, Rob worked as a planning consultant with Lemole Pointon Architects. While there, Rob worked with a diversity of federal agencies and organizations in the planning, programming, and value-engineering of new facilities at Department of Defense installations throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. He also maintained close relationships with private developers performing land-use analyses, prepared construction documents, and conducted preliminary feasibility studies for proposed projects.

Rob earned a graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Virginia Tech University's regional campus in Old Town Alexandria, where he specialized in Physical Planning and Community Design by studying the intricate relationship between the built environment – both public and private – in defining the public realm that includes sidewalks, streets, and public parks. Rob is also a graduate of Bowdoin College of Brunswick, Maine having earned a degree in Economics and Environmental Studies.

Rob strives to be an active citizen by being involved in local civic groups and organizations. While residing in Norfolk, Rob helped found and presided on the board of the Downtown Norfolk Civic League, regularly tutored homeless children, and initiated a downtown beautification project that targets neglected downtown areas. Rob is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute and the American Planning Association.
